There are No Longer Any MCQ Sections in Secondary English
Secondary English Paper 1 and Paper 2 revolves around Comprehension and Composition, with several distinct differences from the Primary English Syllabus.

For instance, there are now 2 texts for Comprehension (Narrative and Non-Narrative). Visual Text Comprehension is now Open-ended. Composition Writing is segregated into different writing styles, with specific requirements for each writing style.
With so many changes all at once, it's normal for your child to feel overwhelmed.

Get Acquainted With The Secondary 1 English Syllabus!
Workshop #1: Composition Writing
In this Secondary 1 Composition Headstart workshop, students will be introduced to the "Personal Recount" writing style, which focuses on narrating personal experiences in an engaging way. We will guide your child through the key marking requirements and scoring criteria, guiding your child to craft and structure his/her essays effectively. Students will also acquire a clear answering framework to systematically organize their thoughts and enhance their writing. Model answers will be provided for reference, to help students know what is required in an 'exam-grade' composition.

Workshop #2: Comprehension + Summary Writing
Comprehension at Secondary level is split into Narrative and Non-narrative Comprehension texts. In this workshop, we will introduce your child to the differences between these text types and how to approach them. Students will be exposed to various question types for both texts, and learn the corresponding answering techniques and strategies tailored to each question type.
We will also take your child through "Summary Writing," a brand-new question format. Model answers will be provided for ease of revision beyond class. Over 4hours, your child will acquire new skills and strategies to excel in Secondary English Comprehension in 2025!
