Secondary 1 IP English Headstart Workshops
Post-PSLE English Workshops To Prepare Your Child For the Secondary English Syllabus in 2025
The transition into Secondary 1 IP English marks a crucial academic milestone — one that demands sharper analytical thinking, stronger writing techniques, and greater confidence in interpreting complex texts.
At Hess Academy, our Secondary 1 IP English Headstart Workshops are purposefully designed to bridge this gap. Each session nurtures higher-order language skills through guided practice, model answers, and exposure to IP-style questions — empowering students to approach Secondary English with insight, precision, and assurance.

Composition: Personal Recount + Unseen Poetry
In this Headstart workshop, students will be introduced to the "Personal Recount" writing style, which focuses on narrating personal experiences in an engaging way. We will guide your child through the key marking requirements and scoring criteria, guiding your child to craft and structure his/her essays effectively.
Students will also acquire a clear answering framework to systematically organize their thoughts and enhance their writing. Model answers will be provided for reference, to help students know what is required in an 'exam-grade' composition.
